Turnabout is Fair Play

It wasn’t in my plan at all but my being impulsive got in the way again. We were just supposed to shop for my son’s school things but when we passed by Kamiseta, a well-known boutique store here, the yellow blouse that the mannequin was wearing caught my attention. Their apparel is known to be a bit expensive but when I checked the tag, it wasn't that expensive as compared to the rest so I bought it.

Shopping for something that I really fancy boosts the woman in me. But hey, how true is it that men think that shopping is ingrained in women, driven by their hormones? A friend told me that her boyfriend told her that, but maybe she was just teasing me. I can be naïve in some ways so maybe it was just a joke.

Still, to turn the tables, could it be that all the macho stuff men get into, such as fast cars and sports, could be considered a testosterone booster? Gotcha, boys! Make fun of us and we can return as good as we get. LOL!

He’s Shrieking to See Shrek

The movie Shrek Forever After: The Final Chapter in 3D is now at the cinemas here in the city. My son Yogi has been bugging me about it and I did think of watching it yesterday since we were at the mall, but we ran out of time after shopping for his school stuff. We actually spent a little time looking at the poster at the entrance of the mall because Yogi was scrutinizing it and really concentrated looking at every character on the poster one by one. I wasn’t able to look at it the way my son did because I was distracted by the two women talking out loud behind us. They were talking about the best diets for quick weight loss which was a puzzlement to me because they weren’t that big.

Anyway, we still have about six days before classes begins so maybe we can still watch the movie sometime this week, my last summer treat for my son since he will be having to go back to school and put his nose to the grindstone of learning.

Music Monday: Can't Take Away From Me by Mariah Carey

Love this song...very meaningful...

They can say,
Anything they want to say,
Try to bring me down,
But I will not allow anyone to succeed hanging clouds over me,
And they can try
Hard to make me feel that I,
Don't matter at all,
But I refuse to falter in what I believe or lose faith in my dreams

'Cause there's,
There's a light in me,
That shines brightly,
They can try,
But they can't take that away from me
From me

Doing it in Style

Another Lifestyle Network show that is a favorite of mine is Color Splash with David Bromstad. The guy is absolutely talented. He not only does interior designing but he can do painting too and in every make-over that he does there will always be painting in his bag of tools and tricks.

There was one episode where he used metal tile as a decoration on the wall. That one was really great! I just loved the outcome. You'd have to see it yourself to appreciate it. I wish I could decorate like that too, but I am getting ideas and I will for sure use them in my soon-to-be home sweet home. (“,)

I Want their Job!

One of the many shows that I love to watch on Lifestyle network is Iron Chef America. I just like the thrill the show brings. Watching those chefs making their way to prepare the kind of food that the judges’ palate would like with just a little time on the clock is really thrilling, not to mention that it makes me drool. And I just envy those judges because they get to sample those delicious foods the chefs prepared. If I was one of those judges and I got to judge regularly, for sure I’d be needing the help of weight loss pills in time. LOL.

'Twas An "Incredible" Movie!

I just got the chance to see The Incredible Hulk on HBO the other night and it was thrilling and exciting. I hadn't planned on watching it since I was busy reading reviews again, hydroxycut reviews this time, but when I heard my son Yogi shouting in excitement, I found myself glued to the TV too. And not to mention it, but, the actor is cute too. Hehe.

Have you seen it? And what can you say? (“,)

Lean Back and Live the Good Life

Lifestyle Network is my most favorite channel of all. I just love those make-over shows that they do, not just on individuals but on homes as well. They are just so amazing and I’m really getting a lot of great ideas watching the shows. My fiancé is in the process of renovating his home and I’m giving him ideas on what I saw.

I told him about those paint color combinations as well as the arrangement of furniture and keeping the whole house organized. Furniture can look simple but it can make an impact on how a room looks like depending on how it’s used or where it is placed. And one of those outdoor chaise lounges would look great on my fiancés back deck just like in the picture that I’ve included. He has half of his back deck roofed so it would be awesome to put one there making it a nice spot to hang out, especially during spring. Oh, I can’t just wait to see it for real.

Bags are My Weakness

I had no plans of getting myself a new one but, oh well; I just loved what I saw and after thinking a million times…I’ve gotten myself a new bag again. Yes, a new bag! But before you think that I bought one of those ellipticals, think again; I don’t need one just yet. Maybe soon but not now.

And to give you a glimpse of my new bag, here’s a photo of it. Isn’t it nice? I just love the color combination – not too bright and not too dark. And it was pretty cheap too, not to mention I got a great discount on it. Simply great!

Music Monday: Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson

I've always been a fan of Kelly from the time she won American Idol. This song is great and I just love it! Happy Music Monday everyone!

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly.
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky.
Make a wish, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won't forget all the ones that I love.
I'll take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away

Friends at Work

This month's theme really made me nostalgic and made me missed my colleagues. I haven't seen most of them for a while now though I still have communication with some of them through Facebook or SMS. I missed those fun times with them especially when I was browsing the photos of those good old days.

This first photo was taken in 2007 during our company's first Christmas Party and unfortunately the last because it got problems a few months after that. Long story! (",) We are all MTs here or Medical Transcriptionists and yes, the company is a Medical Transcription company. I missed our headsets and pedals. Hehe.

Guys from left: Junald and Karl

The next photo below was taken a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away! LOL. Just kidding. These are my office mates here from a telecommunication company who provided gadgets that became very popular before text messaging became a hit. You know what the gadget is? Pagers! I worked as a Telecommunicator and I love that job because it was fun and no pressures at all. I got to meet different people from all walks of life too but not personally though, but through our trunk lines. Yes, even on phones you would know what kind of individual you're talking to and that made the job exciting. (",)

Sitting from left: Me, Lilet and Carol

Anyway, that picture was taken at one of the golf courses we had here and I think that was in 1998. I'm not even sure but it's about that year. Another Telecommunicator, Liezl (not in the picture) is coming home on the first week of July from London and she's planning a get-together for us. That would be fun! I can hardly wait!

Music Monday: Pyramid by Charice feat. Iyaz

The Philippines' pride, Charice has really conquered America's music scene. Her latest single's a hit and that's why I've decided to make it my entry for this week. I like the song and I never thought it's hers the first time I heard it until my niece told me. Nice song, huh? Happy Music Monday!

Sorry, No Cigar; This Time!

To buy cigars or not? That was what mom had been contemplating for days before dad’s birthday. She was thinking of buying him cigars, not for his use since he’s not a smoker, but for him to start a collection because one of his golfing buddies was collecting cigars and dad showed amazement while telling mom about it.

So, she thought of buying him some as gifts for his birthday but decided at the last minute not to. She thought maybe the birthday cake was already enough to make him happy. Dad enjoyed the cake, so no problem.

I'll Be Waiting for the Next Special Invite (",)

This is the simple wedding invitation that I received from Jo Ann – a friend from grade school. She’s getting married on June 8 and she wanted us, her grade school classmates, to be there to witness her joyous moment when she will exchange vows with her long-time boyfriend. The invitation is so very simple, yet nice and classy.

Her brother was the one who delivered the invitation to me so, I just sent her an SMS thanking her and kidded her that pretty soon, it will be baby shower invitations that she will be distributing. I do hope they will not waste any more time because they’re both not getting any younger. I haven’t told her that though. Let me send her a message. LOL.

Friends from School, Friends for Life

From left: Jane, Joy, Nimfa, Me, Aimee

We've been friends since college and that's more or less like 15 to 16 years already except for Nimfa who's been my friend since elementary years. This was taken during our Christmas get-together last year. Another friend Michelle missed the gathering because she left the country middle of last year.

I do have other elementary friends like Jo-ann who's getting married soon and Charity who's now in Canada, and a high school friend Charlotte who's now based in Cebu but we don't have latest pictures together and that's because we haven't had seen each other for a while now though the communication is still there. Talking about them right now makes me nostalgic. I miss them! (",)

I Tried, But I Couldn't Hide

For those of you who have been frequenting this blog, I know that you know that I was once an avid “Ebay-er.” I only stopped when I realized that it was time for me to control myself because I was overspending. I've really made it a point not to browse Ebay anymore and I've been successful. But guess what? Lotsa goodies are for sale at Facebook now and they really make me drool. I was like, "OH WOW! Ebay has now transferred to Facebook, huh?" What a sweet temptation. LOL.

There were clothes, bags, shoes and slippers galore, plus more. I was tempted a few times but thank heavens, I still managed to control myself. You know how? I diverted my attention by clicking all the ads at the right side bar even though the ads didn’t interest me. One time I clicked about the side effects of lipovox when in fact I won’t do anything with it since everybody knows that I won't be using a diet pill because I’m already skinny. Oh well! But it did help to divert my attention which in turn helped me not divert any of my money to buying something I didn't really need. Ain't I a good girl? (“,)

A Goal to Work For

I was site hopping the other day when I came across a nice photo taken by a blogger friend. I like the way it was taken. I love taking photos too, of just about anything that I see, and having a Canon DSLR camera is one of my dreams. It’s been on my shopping list for months now. I really want to have one but it’s beyond my budget at the moment, but I am saving for it, for sure.

I do wonder, though, when those savings will accumulate? In two months? Or perhaps three; four; five months? I really have no idea but I’ll save a little at a time and I know I’ll get there in time just like I did when I was saving for the best weight loss pills for mom. That didn't take all that long since they were not that expensive, but I'm determined to have that camera, regardless the cost, even if I have to skip buying mom's next supply of pills. Nah, just kidding.

My Childhood Friends

My childhood friends were my neighbors from our previous residence. It would have been nice if I got to post a picture of them here but the PC where the scanner was programmed isn't working good right now. I still have to call the tech today and I hope he'll be able to fix it before this day is over.

Anyway, we all grew together but we were separated when me and my family transferred to our current residence and that was when I was only 11 years old. But until now, I can still remember the fun times we've had when we were young. I do wonder where they are now though. Mom saw their mother a few weeks ago and said her kids were busy with their own families now. Hope I'll see them soon again. (",)

Music Monday: When I See You Smile by Bad English

Isn't this a nice song? And this is for you, BA!

When I see you smile, I can face the world, oh oh, you know I can do anything. When I see you smile. I see a ray of light, oh oh, I see it shining right through the rain. When I see you smile. Oh yeah, baby when I see you smile at me ...

Happy Music Monday!

What A Man...Iron or Not...(",)

It was only the other night that I finally got to see the movie Iron Man which stars Robert Downey, Jr. on HBO. I wasn’t able to see it on the big screen or on DVD for I just didn’t get the chance. It just slipped my mind during those times that I was free. And I could have missed it at HBO if I hadn’t scanned the channels. It wasn’t in my plan to watch anything that night because I was going to check a job search online but since my son was still using the PC, I opted to grab the remote and check what was on and I was glued to my seat immediately.

As everybody said, the movie was really great and the special effects were awesome. Robert is still as good looking as he was in his younger days and that made the movie all the more entertaining. Hehe. Now, I have to grab a DVD of Iron Man 2. I won’t miss the sequel for the world.
