Circle of Friends

It is my joy in life to find what we call "circle of friends". To laugh a bit, to love a bit, scold a bit and joke a bit and have a helping hand. A friend to share in times of loneliness and sadness. To have a friend and be a friend can makes life worthwhile.

Heavy Downpour

It's been raining for like three days now and today, rain has been pouring endlessly since this morning. I wonder if there's another typhoon or something. Weather like this is kind of unusual for the month of March since this month is considered to be the hottest month that's why it's called Fire Prevention Month. I still haven't seen the news. I was pretty preoccupied with a lot of things lately. I think it's time for me to check on what's the latest later. Hopefully, this is just one of those low pressure thing and not another tropical depression or typhoon.

Teeth Whitening

Dental office bleaching trays, laser light treatments, do-it-yourself whitening strips - even toothpaste - can help transform aged teeth into more youthful pearly whites. The products that deliver faster results, of course, cost more. For people who want immediate results, like someone getting married in a few weeks, "power bleaching" is recommended which uses a light-emitting diode lamp to hasten the bleaching process. Dramatic results are obtained in an hour.

Store-bought strips, which whiten teeth in one to two weeks, may be all that's needed for some people.

Before you begin:
1) Bleaching may cause temporary tooth sensitivity and gum irritation.
2) Peroxide doesn't lighten fillings, crowns, veneers, bonding and bridges, so bleaching can lead to uneven color.
3) How long any treatment lasts varies, depending on your daily oral habits, but OTC products can be effective for up to a year, while laser treatments can last from six months to two years.

How Dictionary Editors Determine which New Words will be Included in the Dictionary?

Seriously researched dictionaries are based on a vast reading programme. Readers are constantly combing magazines, books, newspapers, and even restaurant menus and catalogues for two types of words: brand-new ones such as blog, which means a type of personal website, or existing words being used in new meanings, such as cougar, which refers to an older woman dating younger men.

According to the editor-in-chief of the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, "Quotations containing the words are entered into a large database. When a certain number of repeated words are recorded in the database, editors will consider that word for addition to a dictionary. The number of repeats required depends on the size of the dictionary. The rule of thumb is 15 quotations from 15 different sources with a date range of about five years. This is how we avoid nonce words - words used only once by one person - and flash-in-the-pan vogue words such as tofurkey, a tofu-turkey substitute. But it is possible that tofurkey will make it into the next edition. These inclusion criteria help determine whether a word has made it into general parlance."

Hogwarts House Sorting Quiz

Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?

Your in-depth results are:

Hufflepuff - 15
Ravenclaw - 14
Gryffindor - 10
Slytherin - 6

Come on guys, join me at Hogwarts!

*** start copy paste this invitation***

I know what you're all thinking, "Not -another- sorting quiz!", but before you get bored and leave, let me say a few things about it. This is not the ordinary sorting quiz that you're used to. Unlike all those other quizzes infesting the Internet, this quiz actually sorts you for who you are as a person, not because your favorite animal is a lion.

I made this quiz as a reaction to all the bad sorting quizzes. The problem with most of the existing quizzes, is that the questions rarely have anything to do with which house you would actually be sorted into. Your favorite color doesn't effect which house you belong to. Not every Gryffindor likes defense against the dark arts, not every Slytherin likes potions. Just look at Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Each is in Gryffindor, but each has a completely different disposition. Harry's father was often a bully and a thief, yet he was still in Gryffindor.

This quiz will actually ask you psychological questions with a variety of answers that can't easily be determined as to which house they fit into. This was meant to be more like what the Sorting Hat does. Just remember though that you must answer these questions truthfully in order to get an accurate answer.

Also these questions are written to take place in our world, not the world of Harry Potter. I didn't give a Harry Potter theme to the quiz because the answers are more accurate this way. As Muggles, we don't have any idea what it's like to be faced with a troll or a bogart and we've never played quiddich. Our answers may be skewed as to how our favorite characters would act instead of ourselves. However, we all know what it's like to live in the Muggle world because we do it every day.

Please take the test and copy paste this *master List* after you are sorted and don't forget to tag your friends! Let's see which tower has the most members!

Gryffindor: Karen Adrian Eric Speedcat Bok Jae LadyJava Gage's World Giddy Tigers, Catsy
Slytherin: Janice Genie Princess
Ravenclaw: Mr. Fong Jojo kasper794 Dawn Wen Ratu Syura Tyna Dora, Sting Jansey
Hufflepuff: Trinity Amel Jo-N Anggie Everyday Healy SueSue Emila Vickylow Shemah Stacey BOBO Jam lsmjennifer Estkirby Chanelwong, Mamajo, Lynn

Thanks a lot for this tag, Catsy. It's your turn girls, Mabelle, Nova, Norm and Prily. Join the fun at Hogwarts.

How do Robins find Worms?

According to Dr. Bird, not all ornithologists agree upon how the bird with a burnt-orange-hued chest finds its prey. "Some experts adamantly claim that the robin appears to cock its head towards the grass just before picking up a worm, suggesting that it is positioning its ear hole towards the worm for better hearing."

Dr. Bird stresses that this is only one possibility. "On the other hand, birds are extremely visual and may be highly sensitive to movement. They could be cocking their heads towards their prey merely to gain a better focus of it on their fovea, an area on the retina with a high number of receptor cones."

While birds do have a better sense of smell than once believed, there is no proof that robins can smell worms. If the latter were the case, says Bird, "the robin would likely be holding its beak and hence its nostrils, closer to the ground. Eyesight is likely the best means for robins to catch worms, but I am not convinced that we can rule out hearing."

Keep an Eye on Color

We eat more when we have lots of choices, like at a buffet. But new research from the University of Illinois and University of Pennsylvania suggests that how food is arranged (in particular, by color) also plays a role. When a study coauthor offered people six varieties of jellybeans, separated by color or mixed in a bowl, they ate about twice as many from the bowl.

Why? Perhaps a mix looks like it has more variety. So if you're trying to lose weight, limit your choices and be watchful for color cues that could make you overeat.

Hear the Beat, Beat of the Music

Forget the eyes being the window to the soul - it seems you may have better luck sifting through a person's CD collection. Researchers questioned 3,500 people and confirmed musical tastes and personality traits are linked.

People who prefer blues, jazz, classical and folk music seem to be intelligent, tolerant and politically liberal, the researchers reported. Meanwhile, country and religious fans tend to be cheerful and conventional, while heavy metal lovers lean towards being physically active, curious risk-takers. As for rap/hip-hop and dance music fans, they are outgoing, agreeable people who generally eschew conservative ideals.

Wow! Never thought the type of music you listened to can be linked to your personality too. This is really interesting. Well, that is why i put it here actually so you, my readers will know too.

Tommy Girl

Got this as a gift from a dear friend last year. There was no special occasion whatsoever, he just thought of giving me a present and that's it. I really love the scent of this perfume. It is very mild and sweet. I have a history of sinusitis so i am very careful when it comes to perfumes. I've always preferred mild and sweet. Never told him about my preference but he likes the mild scent of Tommy Girl too that's why he chose it. Good choice!

10 Random Facts About Me

Sheng tagged me with this. Bunch of thanks, sis. Let me get started.

Me thinks that this is one nice way to know people a weeny bit more!

Here Are The Rules:
1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person that tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 10 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 10 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

The 10 random/unimportant/strange things/habits/quirks about myself are:

1) Just like Sheng, I can be obsessive-compulsive at times too but not in a negative way. It's more of wanting things to be nicer if not perfect. It's hard to go on details 'coz it would be a long story to tell. Hehe.

2) I am a chocolate person. From drinks, desserts to pastries and whatever food there is that has a chocolate flavor, then that would definitely be my choice.

3) I am a homebody. I'm not into gimmicks. I can stay at home for months without seeing malls or friends (communication is still there though).

4) I used to collect Tweety Bird stuff when i was in my early twenties. My room was filled with tweety birds from the ceiling to the floor. I even had bed sheets plus pillowcases and curtains to match.

5) I am a reality television show buff. I love the thrill and excitement with those shows.

6) I am a coffee drinker. I always have a cup before breakfast. Whenever i missed one, i end up having a headache all throughout the day.

7) I have a "semi third eye". I call it semi because i don't see images. Not that i relish seeing one though. I'd probably faint. Lol. I can only hear and feel them. I've been like this since i was in elementary. Believe it or not!

8) I have a strong intuition. They say women are naturally like this. Maybe. Even some of my friends can attest to this. I don't know, it just happens. I tell them what i think and they're shocked how come i knew.

9) I became a widow at 30. They say i am too young to be widowed but this is life. Things happen for a reason. Perhaps my soulmate is still out there somewhere. Lol.

10) But life didn't end there and shouldn't be 'coz i have my Unico Hijo, Yogi who resembles his daddy so much. (",)

Hmmm...What else? I think this is it. Now it's your turn girls. I want to know you more so i'm hoping you'll join the fun... Mabelle, Nova, Bheng, Jaja, Beth, Norm, Catsy, Amor, Juliana and my cousin Prily, let's get to know each other more.

Memory of 9/11 on Oprah

Oprah featured last night the children of those who lost their lives on the 9/11 attack in New York. I was really touched with their stories. Coping up with losing a loved one is never easy. I've been to such and it was hard. Glad i coped up. But that's with the help of family and friends of course. Without them, it could have been a torture. I felt like i'm in their shoes while they were narrating how they missed their father or mother and reminiscing those times when they were still alive. They were too young, such lovely kids and i really felt sorry for them. But i do believe, that everything happens for a reason. I live with that phrase until now.

Jet Set Savvy

If you travel a lot, then you might as well read the hints below on how to have a comfy yet affordable flights. Summer is just around the corner so people will be travelling a lot. I've got this one from a magazine and i thought of sharing it with you.

Lowest price need not mean worst quality, and not at all economy seats are the same. Here's how you can make budget travel more comfortable.

Babies on board: You get more leg room in the bulkhead rows because they make room for carry cots. The catch: you're unlikely to get a seat here unless you fly with an infant.

On the map: Most airlines have seat maps that show the bad seats (as in the ones that don't recline because they're in front of an exit row). Use a travel agent who can confirm your seat when you book.

Fly blind: Want a window seat? Avoid the row forward of a wing.

By numbers: Be wary of following the advice of other travellers on the best seat numbers. Airlines can shift things around.

Some airlines have seats with power sockets for laptops in economy, but you'll need to book ahead.

Charice Pempengco on ASAP

This girl is really amazing. If you aren't seeing the person singing, you would probably think that the voice is not of a little girl but that of a woman. I saw her performance at Ellen Degeneres' Show on TV and to be honest, i really had goosebumps after watching it. She is really magnificent. I don't know what's the right word to use anymore to describe her talent that would really fit her best. She just made every Filipino proud. Go Charice! Mabuhay ka!
